If at the sight of the name of this region you are imagining lavender fields, rocky mountains and beaches of Cannes, Nice and Toulon, then all you left to imagine for a full picture are picturesque vineyards and a fine, refreshing wine. Originally Provence region was not famous for its wine. But tourist trade turned things around and the wine culture was reinvented. Rosé became to dominate the production today. Among the grape varieties, the most notorious from this region are Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Tibouren, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rolle, Ugni Blanc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc.
Provence region is located along the Mediterranean coast, with Rhone River passing by on its west and Côte d’Azur on the east. The region has a very good climate for the vineyards, with reliable sunshine, not too much rain and cool evenings. Mountain ranges texture the region with gentle slopes which as perfectly suitable for vineyards.
