Banyuls Tradition
Red Wine / France / Roussillon / AOP Banyuls / 16,5 % vol.
Banyuls is a sweet, fortified wine from the Roussillon region in southern France. It is made from red or white grapes, but the most common variety used is Grenache Noir.
Similar to Port wine, Banyuls is produced by harvesting very ripe grapes late in the season, fermenting them in barrels, and then fortifying the wine with a neutral grape spirit to halt fermentation and increase the alcohol content. This fortification process preserves the wine’s sweetness and flavor while giving it depth and complexity.
Banyuls Tradition has flavors of chocolate and dried fruits such as prunes and figs. It pairs beautifully with chocolate desserts and can also be enjoyed on its own as a digestive after a large holiday meal.
